Suddenly it is Summer

Some stylish regal bunting made by the children at the Symi Junior School.

Jubilee popcorn.

Suddenly it is summer and we are wondering just when we will relent and turn on the air conditioning in the Symi Visitor Accommodation office.  The breeze off the water has turned warm and the Stani patisserie next door is selling a lot of ice cream.  The water taxis are busy.  The excursion boats from Rhodes have arrived  and the fish pedicure place on the other side of the laundry seems surprisingly popular.

The Royal Jubilee Street Party was a success and had far better weather than the Real Thing on the Thames.  Out and About photographs will be going up soon. In the meantime please have a look at Symi Dream’s photos.   I will let you know how much money was raised for charity when Jenine gives me the figures.

ANES have now released the schedule for the Proteus until the end of September.  It is basically the same as it has been for the past few weeks as the boat does not overnight on Symi.

Have a good week.

Regards,
Adriana

About this Blog

I sailed into Panormitis Bay, Symi, by chance one windy July day in 1993 and have been here ever since. The locals tell me that this is one of the miracles of St Michael of Panormitis. A BA graduate with majors in English, Philosophy and Classical Civilisation, the idea of living in what is to all intents and purposes an archaeological site appeals to me. Not as small as Kastellorizo, not as touristy as Rhodes, Symi is just the right size. I live on a small holding which my husband and I have reclaimed from a ruin of over-grazing and neglect and turned into a small oasis over the course of the past 22 years. I also work part-time for Symi Visitor Accommodation, helping independent travellers discover and enjoy Symi's simple pleasures for themselves.
