Presumably the problem with funding for the sports centre is not any withdrawal of EU funds, but rather a requirement that the Greek government makes a matching(?) contribution - which it can no longer afford to do?

Dear Adriana.

Every time your photos and texts appear on my pc-screen, you make me happy - and looking forward to again "feeling at home" in "the universe of Symi" - as it has been for me the last approx. 25 years ;-)
14 september I will be there since this is - unfortunately - the only day with access to Stavros tou Polemou.

I wish you many tourist this summer - and a good Greek govenment election 6 may (whatever that is).

It must be at least 25 years ago when I spent a night in Symi, having made the short trip from Rhodes. But I will, I WILL return!
In the meantime I simply want to say how much I enjoy your blog. The photos, the commentary, the weather reports, I can't praise it enough.

Its 'Big week ' here at the moment so we are a week ahead this year. Not that you'd know it..the Easter eggs were in the shops just after Christmas, and religion doesn't figure much in most people's lives. Sad. It makes it harder for those of us who do want to attend services when Good Friday is a bank holiday and for me its fasting and church!

Fortunately I already bought my september summer visit to the world of Symi: Yalos, Chorió, Pedi, Stavros tou Polemou (Day of the Cross), Panormitis, Marathounda, Nanou, people I know - and the many inspiring Icons.

They were working into the night on the Panaghia Skiadeni when we first passed through Rhodes, and again when we overnighted on the way back. I think they got it fit for Panormitis but still need to do some work to finish it.

Not all Easyjet passengers fared well. Two friends had their Liverpool flight cancelled and were not offered another until next week. fortunately they were regular Symi visitors and not "phazed" by this. They managed to get a flight back to the UK on Friday.
